The
variety of essential and unique services provided by ICVA is aimed at
the benefit of national and international NGO community throughout Former
Yugoslavia: coordination, information and orientation, national NGO
capacity building, key NGO support services, and advocacy. These efforts
have so far included such activities as:

creating and supporting mechanisms for information sharing and joint
policy formulation among NGOs, such as the NGO Council in Sarajevo and
Belgrade;
· providing assistance and specialised skills training to national NGOs
in order to enhance their individual and collective abilities;
· providing financial management training for staff in international
NGOs to enhance their individual financial reporting and accounting
skills
· providing advocacy and human rights training to local NGOs to raise
NGO awareness of advocacy and human rights
· work on promoting the creation of appropriate NGO legislation and
governmental regulations which will support, rather than impede, the
full development of a vibrant NGO sector in FRY;
· facilitating a coherent interface for NGOs with major institutions
such as UNHCR and other UN agencies, host government authorities, and
other relevant institutions and organisations;
· strengthening links with ECRE (European Council of Refugees and Exiles)
network, particularly those ECRE members in other parts of Central and
Eastern Europe, building upon their experience of working with refugees
in countries undergoing transition
· maintaining and producing a comprehensive listing of humanitarian
organizations active in FR Yugoslavia.
